Our craft
One team, measure to install
Birch & Grain designs, manufactures, finishes and installs cabinetry and millwork from a single shop in Ybor City, Tampa. No cabinet vendor in the middle, no install subcontractor, no handoffs.
Why we build the way we do
Almost every shortcut available in cabinetry shows up two to five years after installation rather than on install day. A particleboard carcass looks identical to a plywood one when it is new. A stapled drawer box opens and closes perfectly until the day it racks. The differences only become visible once the cabinetry has lived through a few Florida summers, a dishwasher leak, and a few thousand open-and-close cycles.
So the specification is fixed rather than optional: 3/4" solid birch plywood boxes, dovetailed drawers, six-way adjustable soft-close hinges, full-extension soft-close slides. Not because every client asks for it, but because we are the ones who would have to come back.
Keeping it in-house
The second decision is structural. We run our own shop, our own finishing, and our own install crew. On a residential job that means the people who measured your room are the people who fit the cabinetry, so nothing is lost in translation between trades. On a commercial build-out it means we control the schedule. There is no third-party cabinet vendor whose queue we are sitting in when your opening date moves.
It also means one point of contact. Your designer, GC or operations lead talks to us, not to a call centre and not to a rotating cast of subcontractors.
Who we work with
Roughly half our work is residential: homeowners, interior designers and builders across Tampa Bay. The other half is commercial: restaurant and bar casework, hospitality fit-outs, reception and lobby millwork. Trade and designer enquiries are genuinely welcome; we are comfortable quoting off a millwork package and flagging buildability issues before they become change orders.
We speak Spanish (hablamos español), which matters more in this market than it is usually given credit for.
Licensing & credentials
Licensing and insurance details are available on request; ask at the consultation and we will provide current documentation.
Built different
Why Birch & Grain
stands apart
Every box we build starts with the same non-negotiable foundation: solid birch plywood. Most cabinetry is built in 3/4" birch, 5/8" where it's the better fit, with dovetail drawers and soft-close hardware throughout. It is the durability commercial and hospitality jobs demand, and the quality homeowners notice. No particleboard. No shortcuts. Designed, built, and installed by one in-house team that manages the project from measure to punch list.
How it works
From measure to installed
We handle every step in-house, with no subcontractors and no handoffs. Your project stays with one team from the first measurement to the last hinge, coordinating directly with your designer, GC, or operations lead.
Step 01
Consultation
We meet on site, at your home or job site, and take measurements, review drawings or finishes, and align on scope and timeline. No commitment required.
Step 02
Design & Quote
Full 3D layout with pricing and lead times. You, or your designer and GC, approve every dimension, finish, and detail before we cut a single board.
Step 03
Built in our shop
Manufactured in-house. Solid birch boxes, dovetail drawers, precision-cut to your exact specs and finish schedule, built to hit your install or opening date.
Step 04
Installed
Our own install crew delivers and installs every cabinet, down to the last soft-close hinge and drawer slide.
Let's build your space.
Every quote starts with an on-site measurement and a clear scope, finish schedule and lead time. No obligation.
