Entertainment Units & Media Walls

Built-in media walls, entertainment centers and fireplace surrounds designed around your room, your television and the equipment that has to breathe behind it.

Designed around the television you own

The most common failure in a built-in media wall is designing the opening around the television currently in the room and discovering, four years later, that no replacement set fits it. Panel sizes drift, bezels shrink, and mounting patterns change. We size openings with deliberate tolerance and detail the mount so a future set can be swapped without re-cutting cabinetry.

Equipment bays need ventilation and cable access, and both are routinely under-specified. A receiver in a sealed cavity will thermally throttle or shut down. We build bays with rear air paths and cable chases that let you re-run a cable without dismantling anything.

Fireplace surrounds

Surrounds have clearance requirements that come from the appliance manufacturer, and they are not negotiable, particularly for a gas insert, where combustible-material clearances dictate where millwork can start. We build to the listed clearances for your specific unit and detail the transition between the non-combustible surround and the cabinetry so the junction reads intentionally.

The rest of the wall

Most of these projects end up being a wall rather than a cabinet: a central media opening flanked by shelving and closed base storage, often with paneling above or around. Working with one shop for the entire wall means the reveals line up, the finish matches across the whole elevation, and there is no seam where one trade stopped and another started.

Common questions

Common questions about entertainment units

Yes, closed bays with IR-transparent fronts or a routed cable path to a remote rack. Tell us what equipment you have and how you want to control it.

That is specifically what we design for. We size the opening with tolerance rather than to the current panel.

We build and install the cabinetry with proper blocking for the mount. Final mounting of the set is usually done by your AV installer, and we coordinate with them.

Yes. The same wall treatment and finish can carry through to a home office, which is a common pairing.
