Custom Cabinets in Tampa

Working in Tampa's housing stock

Tampa is not one housing market, and the cabinetry problem changes considerably between neighbourhoods. The 1920s bungalows in Seminole Heights and Hyde Park have plaster walls that are rarely plumb, ceiling heights worth using, and original trim profiles that a renovation should match rather than approximate. We build to scribe in those houses and will reproduce an existing moulding profile from an offcut.

The post-war blocks in South Tampa and Palma Ceia more often come to us as full kitchen reconfigurations, where a wall is coming out and the cabinetry layout is being set from scratch. New construction in New Tampa and the Westshore corridor is more typically a specification exercise. The dimensions are known and the decisions are about door style, finish and hardware.

Commercial work in the city

A significant share of our Tampa work is commercial: restaurant and bar casework in Ybor City, Seminole Heights and the Channel District, reception and lobby millwork in Westshore and downtown office space, and hospitality fit-outs. On a build-out, cabinetry sits on the critical path between MEP rough-in and final inspection, and being ten minutes from the site rather than two hours is the difference between a same-day fix and a schedule slip.

Humidity is the local constant

Everything we build for Tampa assumes the climate. Boxes are 3/4" solid birch plywood rather than particleboard, because the failure mode here is moisture. A slow supply-line drip under a sink, an undersized bathroom exhaust fan, a lanai that takes rain sideways in August. Plywood tolerates that cycling; a particleboard core does not recover from it.

Areas we work in and around Tampa

Our shop and showroom are in Ybor City, so most of the city is a short drive for a measurement or a punch-list visit.
